Surfer Girl

It's hard to believe that when we first moved here, Erin was greatly intimidated by the ocean. Granted, the extent of her ocean experience was in the Caribbean waters, which are warm and calm, rather than the SoCal Pacific, which is just the opposite. But in the middle of last summer, she declared that she wanted a boogie board, and she set out with a determination to learn to use it. Looking at her this summer, it's hard to believe that this is the same kid. She now sails over the waves and rides them in like a pro. This summer (at least when we've been home) we've been going to the beach a few times a week with some of our friends, and today was one of those days. The girls were in the water for almost 3 straight hours, and, as usual, had a great time!

  1. She doesn't look like she's having too much fun. ;) I wanna' get my son an advanced skim board - one where he can hang ten on it on smaller waves. We saw some guys doing it at the beach in April and my son was in awe.

  4. What a great smile! I love this photo, and good for her for getting in there and doing it! Swimming for 3 hours sounds great, but I'm sure she was hungry afterwards! :)
