A few times a year, I volunteer in Erin's class for their art program called Art Masters. In these classes, the students learn about a specific artist and their techniques, and then try their hand and using those techniques to create their own work. They use different mediums including chalks, pastels, and pencils, and it's always fun to see how the kids translate the masters' work into their own. Today's artist was René Magritte, and using chalks and pencils, the kids came up with all kinds of interesting items to have floating in their skies. This is such a fantastic program... I'm really hoping the schools can keep it going in the years to come!
I used to volunteer in a program like that when my youngest was in school. It was so much fun to see how creative the kids were--and fun to come up with a project for each artist we studied!
ReplyDeleteI've been a Masters of Art volunteer several times in my kids' classes. It's always so much fun. Love seeing the creative things the kids come up with !
ReplyDeleteMy kids have one of those programs too! My dd loves it!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have seen what the kids created. I think kid art is so beautiful....everything they make should be framed and hung up! Seriously...no one could re-create kid art if they wanted to. Its just how it is! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun program!
